Masha Gessen

I have been reading the work of this intelligent woman since I read her book on Grisha Perelman, the Russian savant who solved Poincaré's Conjecture.

Today I read her piece on the College experience in the USA.

All the people in my immediate family have been to college.

Nevertheless in general I agree with her, the US is not a socialist country as Mexico is, which is my only way to compare two countries, because I have studied in both.

Just to clarify even more, I did not go to UCSB to get connected to some wealthy network of classmates. I attended to learn the ropes, so to say, of research in Mathematical Physics.

That I learn; as an extra I met an intelligent woman that made it easier for me to live in the US so far.

The corrupt scheme that she criticize is bad, really bad, and as she say several factors enable such corrupt behavior.

Maybe Donald John Trump's father was a self made man, but his descendants received a big push, no different than the one Gessen criticizes.
