Planning to go back I have this to write.
Lucent technologies had a union, not for professionals like me, but for the rank and file. It was expensive to let those guys out: So, there goes the Mexican Scientist.
At that point I was not making the company a lot of money. After a few jobs here and there, somehow more senior people stayed, and I had to leave. The only exception I remember right now, is the person in charge of ESL who hired me, at East Aurora High School; she was fed up and left before I did.
My point here is, that social inertia played a role in the American system rejecting me.
Next time around I should take this into consideration.
