I used to own shares of that great innovative company. I read sadly today that the stock prize is $4.02. Up to 6,000 people, very likely intelligent and educated people, will lose their job (below). The financial engineering behind the mortgage industry depended on the power of the hardware sold by Sun Microsystems.
I want to emphasize here that the principals of those companies are not necessarily the same mathematicians, scientists, and engineers, that produced or were in charge of these marvels of modern technologies. Nevertheless these technical men and women will lose their jobs.
Sun Microsystems is a victim of human folly.
