Long Live the Supreme Council!
Right here on campus, of the Universidad Autónoma de Guerrero, right now, the Indians from Filo Mayor are meeting.
José Narro Céspedes from the Mexican House of Representatives just finished addressing them.
I am very touched.
He gave a succinct and clear explanation of how since April 10, 1979, when the Zapatista-Jaramillista movement opposed the government decision to move the remains of General Emiliano Zapata, from his native land of Morelos, to the Revolution Monument, where his assassins are buried; Mexican Indians have been fighting to get back, the land they lost to the Spanish invasion that started in 1492.
If there is a solution to Climate Change, it has to pass through the acknowledgement and reparations of the worldwide land theft that took effect around the middle of last millennium.
Right now Mexico imports 42% of the food we eat; most of it junk food.
¡Basta!
That is Enough!
Read the lyrics of a song on Rubén Jaramillo here.
Listen to Phil Ochs sing it here, or in Spanish listen to José de Molina here.
BTW, the Indians came with their children lots of 'em. The Indians are organized.
