Open Source Astronomy?

Recently two amateur astronomers from New Zealand, found more information from observations than the professionals in the team. Their collaboration, MicroFun, from the OGLE collaboration, that recently found a dwarf solar system (see below), provided an important input to the paper.

Do more eyeballs see more planets?

For software development, Eric Raymond used to say that more eyeballs see more bugs. More precisely, Linus's Law, states:"Given enough eyeballs, all bugs are shallow"


A new era in Astronomy is upon us.
