Values in Education

Last week we had the visit of Professor Ángel Homero Flores Samaniego. He has a proposal to research Mathematics Education. He mentioned the issue of values, there was a reaction in the audience about this. I remembered from my Benedictine University, Alternative Certification Program for High School Teachers, that there was a Jewish-American scientist, we studied, that dwelt on these issues: Lawrence Kohlberg. These are important issues.

I am glad Professor Flores brought that up. Without students and teachers, ethically engaged in the academic pursuits, the success is not as good as it can be.

Professor Steven Pinker wrote a relevant piece in the NYT.
