One answer is that they do not know how to do anything else. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.
Another easy answer is that they need a job, any job.
Something interesting happened today. A bunch of students came demanding a Physics Class!
It happened, maybe I can understand it some time in the future.
My colleagues here are doing paper work, so the university can function, and they can get more money. Sounds straightforward; what else is new, you have to do mind-numbing tasks sometimes?
I guess so; as far as I am concerned I am looking for another way to make a living. Right now I am more entertained in devising a plan for these entrepreneurial kids.
