Are We at a Juncture?

Acemoglu and Robinson write about juncture points in the history of humanity. There are moments in the life of all of us, when things go one way or the other, for very different futures. In Back to the Future, an evil character steals a Sports Almanac, and produces a fundamental shift in the future of the town. According to Acemoglu and Robinson, Jamestown in 1619, were  the place and time where, and when, the United States of America was born as a Free Country.

Today I read, that Enrique Pena Nieto of Mexico, is in deep trouble because he committed crimes to become President of Mexico. Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador - who by the way will be today in Puebla, the city he easily won in the July 1 Mexican Presidential Election - is legally and peacefully fighting this crime.

He may win, and Mexico will have her Jamestown moment.
