Two Presidents in Mexico

The Democratic National Convention elected Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) as the new president of Mexico yesterday. More than a million registered Mexicans in the Convention, decided in Mexico City's Zócalo to be represented by AMLO instead of Felipe de Jesús Calderón Hinojosa, from the National Action Party (PAN). PAN officially won the presidential election last Septemeber 6th by a decision of the Electoral Tribunal; nevertheless the Convention that started yesterday does not recognize this decision.

Therefore, there are two presidents in Mexico.

This is not the first time this happens in Mexico; in the middle of the nineteenth century there were two centers of power, Emperor Maximilian of Hapsburg, and President Benito Juárez, a Zapotec Indian of Oaxaca. At the end, Maximilian was executed in Queretaro, Mexico; and Juárez was one of the best presidents Mexico has had.

In this picture you can see the new president with his three sons under the Zócalo in a subway tunnel yesterday.

Mexico is a country with more than 105,000,000 people and of them more than 60,000,000 have 18 years or more, so they can vote, and ONLY 1,000,000 proclaim Obrador as president in the selfproclaim National Democratic Convention in which only PRD members and supporters where allowed to go.

LAS VERDADES A MEDIAS SON MENTIRAS...
EN LA CONVENCIÓN NACIONAL DEMOCRÁTICA ASISTIERON NO SOLO MIEMBROS DEL PRD. ESTABAN AHÍ PERSONAS DEL PT Y DE CONVERGENCIA SIN CONTAR LOS MILES DE PERSONAS SIN PARTIDO.
SI QUISIERAMOS CIFRAS EXACTAS, PERO NO SOBRE LA CND, SINO SOBRE LA ELECCIÓN EN MÉXICO, NOS ENCONTRARÍAMOS CON QUE ES IMPOSIBLE OBTENERLAS, DEBIDO A QUE EL TRIBUNAL ELECTORAL SE NEGÓ A HACER UN RECUENTO VOTO POR VOTO EN LA PASADA CONTIENDA ELECTORAL.
FINALMENTE, SUPONIENDO SIN CONCEDER, QUE LAS CIFRAS DADAS POR EL TRIBUNAL FUERAN CERCANAS A LA REALIDAD, LES RECUERDO QUE FUERON SOLO 250,000 VOTOS LOS QUE HUBO DE DIFERENCIA. CON ESA DIFERENCIA TAN CERRADA, EL TRIBUNAL ELECTORAL, RESOLVIÓ QUE NUESTRO PRESIDENTE ·SI INTERVINO EN LA ELCCIÓN A FAVOR DE FELIPE CALDERÓN", PERO MINIMIZO LAS CONSECUENCIAS DE ESTA INTROMISIÓN.
ES POSIBLE DESESTIMAR ESTA INTERVENCIÓN DEL EJECUTIVO CUANDO ESTA ELECCIÓN SE HA CONVERTIDO EN LA MÁS CERRADA DE LA HISTORIA EN MÉXICO.

Y COMO SE ME OLVIDÓ PONER LOS SIGNOS DE INTERROGACIÓN, AHÍ VA OTRA VEZ...
¿ES POSIBLE IGNORAR LA PARTICIPACIÓN DE FOX EN LAS PASADAS ELECCIONES TAL Y COMO LO HIZO EL TRIBUNAL EN LA CONTIENDA ELECTORAL CON RESULTADOS MAS CERRADOS EN MÉXICO?

Jorge Arturo I do believe AMLO is a better representative of millions of Mexicans. As Flor Mora says the results of the legal election can and were rejected. In my mind the legality of the Electoral Tribunal decision now is less important than the strength of the political movement behind AMLO, and behind President Calderón. Now we are talking politics not law. Who has a bigger political movement López Obrador or Calderón? That is the question now.

I'm not against AMLO, I also belive that the election ballots should be checked in order to clarify everything, but also I don't belive that a million people is enough people to proclaim someboday president, just think... Mexico City and the metropolitan area has more than 20,000,000 people and only 1,000,000 went to the meeting and voted, even though that Mexico city is the strong arm of AMLO!

I want new elections too!

Now I found irealistic to complain against the support for the former president for the candidate of it's own party, in every other country in the world that is perfectly normal is not bad, is his decition as a public figure, just like some famous people supported AMLO and political figures too.

In fact I think that in Mexico the support from the president damage the image, Calderon was elected candidate because he didn't had Fox support, at the begining, because Fox support damage the image of the candidate!
