Geometry Without Points?

John von Neumann wrote in the PNAS:

``We consider a class L of at least two different elements ("undefined entities"), which will be denoted by a, b, .. ., y, z and in it a relation a < b, with the following properties:''

The elements (points) are not defined, but the axioms are.
