Today the Chicago Tribune has a piece on Digital Natives attachment to parents. Some worry about independence; I worry about everything, but I see this trend as the continuous trend towards extended childhood. I am for that.
If you put a child to work at age six, you get a useless person for the current economy. More school years are needed to use the complex equipment present nowadays in the workplace.
In fact, I almost see this trend as the building of the Noosphere. These kids really have to be protected so they can build, the ideas, the software and the hardware for this World Brain.
