Azril Bacal

My friend from Santa Barbara spent New Year's Eve with us in Warrenville.

Azril, has been a dedicated intellectual with one overriding concern throughout his academic career: Peace.

It was a pleasure to have him around.

Shalom.

Poetry Reading and Bilingual Dialogue with Peruvian-Swedish author Azril Bacal at Revelations this coming Saturday 8, January at 8 PM.
The local public is warmly invited to a bilingual literary evening this Saturday 8 PM at Revelations. Azril Bacal was born in Peru and covers in his book "Refracciones Itinerantes" (Itinerant Refractions) his past 25 years of self-exile in Sweden.

This illustrated book is divided into seven chapters: Soliloquios (Introspections), Algoritmos (Life Rhythms), Cantigas (Chants), Eros (Love), Ocurrencias (Occurrences), Anuncios y Denuncias (Annunciations and Denunciations) and quasi haiku. The author received his Masters in Sociology from Iowa State University, Ames in 1966, and visits Fairfield regularly to see his daughter Caterina Titus-Bacal and her family: Emmanuel Titus and three grandchildren (Chosie, Devin and Cheysten), who are longtime Fairfield residents.

The reading will be in both English and Spanish. The author continues to be an engaged (retired) academic within the world social forum and world education forum for global justice & peace. The Latino and Spanish-speaking community is particularly invited. A few copies of his book will be for sale after the reading.
