Are we afraid of our own children?
It is easy to think that a child that commits a crime does not reflect shortcomings we as individuals may have. In the best of cases is that child's family we can blame.
Nevertheless all children belong to us, and as a society we are failing when the best solution for rotten kids is; kill them.
Here in Mexico, drug cartels recruit our kids very young; I believe this is because as a society we have failed to take care of the little ones.
This will come to haunt us, both here in Mexico, as in the US:
Adults are responsible for the young ones, not them. A nineteen year old may seem like an adult; my son is that age, but I know, that he still has some growing up to do.
