After some of the things I have posted here, you may find my concern silly. But here it goes. I am reading some physiology articles to understand why Dr. Gilbert N. Ling, had been disdained for so long. Reading a paper on the effect of Ba++ on Channels by Miller at al., I read that they used a computer in 1987 to do what seem to be tedious experimental procedures.
I am reading Dr. Ling book: ``A Revolution in the Physiology of the Living Cell.''
He acknowledges the help of many women. The controversial view I want to express here is that when he did the experiments, there were not many PCs to do these tedious tasks. Or if there were, the book was published in 1991, physiologists didn't know how to program computers to do their bidding; therefore they went to the next available cheap labor: Women.
I hope I am wrong.
