Robert Wright NYT

This NYT opinion writer takes on an issue I have touched here before.

Is there a collective brain being formed? À la Jung, or de Chardin, or David Bohm, or some other thinkers I don't know about, there is some other unorthodox thinker, I know about, Rupert Sheldrake.

I will bring in now, Terry Sejnowski.

Looking at the brain alone, it is hard to understand why Bonobos or Chimpanzees are not scolding us for the mess we've made with the environment. Cultural Biology is the difference; Homo sapiens has build, so to say, a brain outside the brain, according to Sejnowski and Quartz. Humans upload inside constructs into the outside world of computer drives and all kind of gizmos. We have extended our brains, not only into the brains of our co-workers, but also into, yes; the Internet.

I do believe there is a new brain being born. If we understand it, we can nurture it. My blogs are a modest contribution to this growing superorganism.

How are you today, son?
