Science in the Periphery

There are historical precedents for great ideas generated alone, far from the scientific center. For scientists in the Third World this is a present condition. Internet communication has ameliorated the problem, but it is still there.

Here anyone knows a lot. You feel that you have something important. There is no debate though, and that is a recipe for failure.

I write this just to remind myself and try to get out of this circumstance. One solution is to write to people in the center of things. But they are bound to tire, when not much of substance comes from the backwaters.
