The Mythology of War

We are celebrating in Mexico two revolutions this year. Two hundred years ago, here in Guerrero, and in the State of Guanajuato, the Independence from Spain War started, and one hundred years ago the Mexican Civil War erupted in Puebla, Puebla, and Huitzuco, Guerrero, Mexico.

My granma's brothers joined the rebellion in Huitzuco. I am proud of them. They gave us a democratic form of government, no Communist Party here; like in Cuba in 1959.

Another war is going on in Mexico this year of 2010. But it is an undeclared war, children are killed in Ciudad Juárez, and all over the country, really. You won't read about it in the NYT, but remember; the Revolution will not be televised.

The US and allies are fighting a more expensive form of this undeclared war, in Afghanistan.

This could be a sign of the end of the world as we know it.

Nowadays anybody can buy expensive weapons, even nuclear, as in Iran, right now. Here in Guerrero, Rogaciano Alba was going around carrying army type weapons, and killing nuns like Digna Ochoa. A war by any other name would be as awful. A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.

Next time you go out at night, better watch out.
