"CHICAGO -- Immigrant rights activists in Chicago are gearing up for rallies in their plea for comprehensive immigration reform.
Several groups were expected to gather late Monday morning in Chicago's Pilsen neighborhood in honor of International Women's Day.
Rosi Carrasco is a leader of the Latino Organization of the Southwest. She says the idea is to call on federal leaders to end deportations and raids, which affect families.
Leaders will also announce more details on a March 10 youth-focused rally that will encourage some young people who are in the U.S. illegally to tell their life stories.
Chicago has often set the tone for the immigration reform movement. It's had the highest participation in May 1 rallies. In 2006, more than 400,000 marched for reform. "
