This note somehow is a follow-up to Cultural Biology below.
I used cultural biology concepts, in a negative sense, somehow. I can see some cultural bias towards the beautiful people of Guerrero. I know that Sociobiology led to negative charges against Edward O. Wilson, when he first socialized the new field in the seventies. I amend this a bit here.
It works both ways, science does not really take sides, even though I know that big money in the coal industry, is behind the Scientific Global Warming Denial Movement.
Professor Jean Pestiau, whom I mentioned before in this blog, went to Mexico in the seventies for ideological reasons. His working class political views sustained him in Mexico City instead of joining the rat race that leads to tenured positions in Europe. I am happy to report that he got tenure many years ago at the Catholic University of Louvain, in Belgium
Now I find one of my students, Enrique García Reyes, working in a new university in Oaxaca. I haven't asked him, but I suspect his clear political ideas help him to do the needed work, in that undeveloped state of our country.
Mysterious paths are weaved through our lives.
