Social Distress

I read Fidel Castro in the Mexican paper La Jornada, today. That article is in Spanish, but the Cuban Government translates Castro's articles a few days later.

He talks about a deteriorating situation between the Obama administration and several countries, namely Iran. I am not privy to Castro's contacts, but I am looking for signs of social distress, which are a consequence of the several upcoming hard situations humanity has to face.

Today Amy Goodman showed us the dismal situation in Haiti after six months of the earthquake. It looks like the canary in the mine.

The most vulnerable countries show us what is coming.

It is not pretty.

I think of Kevin Costner's movie "The Postman." Paramilitaries in Guerrero, and Chiapas, Mexico. During Katrina's aftermath in New Orleans, and now Haiti.

I know how the future looks; it is not pretty.

Some combination of  Cuarón's "Children of Men", and Costner's "The Postman."
