What Would've We Done?

68 was a year of revolt. A worldwide student movement took us by surprise when I was 18. Now here we are, I am 60; some of my friends are dead, a few because they chose to fight hard. What if we had taken over?

In Mexico City the request was simple: Fire the chief of police. Some students and teachers were beaten up by the police inside high school grounds. I think that was a just punishment for these officers that did not respect human dignity. Our president, Gustavo Díaz Ordaz, chose to kill five hundred innocent people on October the 2nd, 1968.

After an earthquake in 1985 his party, PRI, lost the presidency in 2000, to Vicente Fox of PAN.

These are glacial time frames, we wanted change, and we wanted it THEN.

Here we are in 2010, the sky is falling, and the rich are getting richer at the expense of everybody's welfare.

Did we have a better way?

We have to answer this question now. As the kids in US campuses are telling us the time is NOW.

To begin with, we have to organize poor people all over the world. Every single child born on this Earth from now on should get a place to sleep, food, love, and education.

After that, everything will be solved in due time.

We are living in sin. The gods are upset with us.
