Who Got Here First?

You may not know Jessica Colotl (below). I know that her people have been walking these American lands since the time when there was no calendar. They got here around thirteen thousand years ago. I wonder if my readers have a sense of that year. Let's see. One thousand years has ten centuries, one century has one hundred years. So the time when her ancestors moved to America, then it was not called that, in negative numbers is something like, minus eleven thousand years: - MMMMMMMMMMM, in Roman script.

Too bad her folks didn't keep rent receipts so she can show them to officers of the law.

I hope she is kept in the college she is already attending, instead of sending her to Mexico.

You can read her story in the NYT.

One of the persons involved asks:

"“Ironically, she says she wants to go on to law school, but she’s undermining the law,” Mr. Kent said. “What’s the point of educating an illegal immigrant in a system where she can’t hold a job legally or get a driver’s license?”"

There is no point; therefore grant her legal residence and you get a smart woman to work in the US. One would think that Mr. Kent only wants gardeners, and maids, but no lawyers.

Wise up people!
